Ann P Cooney age 86 formerly of Marblehead, died September 22, 2010 in Ireland following an illness of several months.
The daughter of the late Martin and Mary Ann (McGinley) Cooney she was the sister of the late Patricia M. Cooney, the late Robert B. Cooney and the late Leo M. Cooney. Born in Boston, she grew up in Brookline where she was graduated from St. Aidan's School. She attended Boston College, taught elementary school and had also worked for the Irish Consulate locally and abroad.
Visitation will be Saturday morning, October 2, 2010 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 81 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. Memorial contributions are requested to help establish a fund in the name of her brother, Robert Benedict Cooney, such fund to be administered by Dr. Vera Lang, Rossnowlagh Road, Ballyshannon, County Donegal Ireland, to provide financial assistance to needy students pursuing the study of medicine in Ireland.
