Amy Nurse, RN age 97 of Salem, formerly of Everett, died on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
Born in Everett the daughter of the late Albert and Amy Bradford (Jarvis) Nurse, she was raised and educated in Everett. She then continued her education and became a registered nurse at North Shore Children's Hospital where she took an active role in nurse training as well as supervisory responsibilities. During World War II Miss Nurse joined the United States Army in 1941 and was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific theater of operation . Upon her discharge she continued her career with North Shore Medical Center until her retirement. She was also involved with the former thrift shop on Lynde St in Salem for several years.
She is survived by her cousins and friends. A special thanks is also extended to her caregivers and friends at the Brook House for Aged Women in Salem.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem (corner of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
