Beverly - Allen K. Janard, age 84 years, husband of Nancy Knight, died Monday morning, August 22, 2016 at his residence. Born in Scituate, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Silva) Janard. He was raised in Provincetown and following High School, Mr. Janard entered the United States Army and served his Country during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Sargent. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He completed courses in the United States Constabulary Non-Commissioned Officers Academy.

Following his discharge from the Army, he was employed in a machine shop and later owned and operated a construction company, Al's Home Repair, until his retirement. He had a love for the ocean and was an avid fisherman. He was a wonderful story teller and enjoyed history.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are five children, Manny Janard of Beverly, Hilda Mekelatos of Beverly, Carol Janard of Salem, Helen Janard of Peabody and Lucy Coleman of Salem, his grandchildren, his brothers Ronnie Janard of Beverly and Paul Janard of Essex. He was predeceased by two children, Darlene Janard and Allen K. Janard, Jr., his sister Elinor Janard and his two brothers, Loui and Joey Janard.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening, August 25, 2016 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St) Salem from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Military Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 7:30 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
