Alice A. (Nordyke) Dempsey, age 65, loving wife of Paul T. Dempsey, died early Tuesday morning, July 8, 2014 at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital. Born in Chelsea, Mrs. Dempsey was the daughter of the late John and Doris Nordyke. She was raised in Salem, attended St. James Grammar School and graduated from St. James High School.
Mrs. Dempsey was employed with New England Telephone, which became Verizon, for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Pioneers Club. Mrs. Dempsey was an avid Patriots Fan and loved Tedy Bruschi.
Surviving her in addition to her husband are her two grandchildren, Alyssa and Michael, her dear friends Estelle and Mark Coan and Marilyn Weisman, her sister Marlene McGlone and her husband Russell (Alice's favorite brother in law) of Salem, her sister in law Claire Ryan of South Carolina, and her brother in law Ken Dempsey of Arizona.
Mrs. Dempsey's Funeral will be held from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (Corner of North St.) Salem on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 9:15 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday July 10, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
