Alice (Drozell) Connelly, age 80, wife of the late Salem Police Chief Charles J. Connelly died in Salem Hospital Tuesday December 18.
Alice was an angel who touched all those who had the privilege of meeting her. She was known for her varied and eclectic jobs, her love of gardening, and her weekends "treasure hunting" at yard sales. But most of all she perfected the art of loving well. She will be remembered for her selflessness, wisdom, loyalty, and boundless energy.
She is the loving mother of Vicki and her husband Tom and the late Charles Connelly, Jr..; the devoted grandmother of Kimberly, Michael and Kristin Johnston, Charles III and Christopher Connelly and his wife Jillian and the proud great grandmother of Chuckie and Caleb. She will be greatly missed by her partner, Louis Gentile and his family Louis Gentile Jr. and his wife Debby, Tim and Louis III. She leaves behind her sisters Helen and Victoria; a brother Joseph Drozell and many nieces and nephews. She will be mourned by her best friend of 56 years, Doris Hayes and Doris' family.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
