Alice FitzGerald Boardman, widow of the late Arthur G. Boardman died August 30, 2014. Born in Wrentham, Massachusetts, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. FitzGerald, she grew up in Rhode Island and was a graduate of the convent of the Sacred Heart, Elmhurst, in Providence. She then graduated from Pembroke College (now part of Brown University). Before her marriage, she did child welfare work for the State of Rhode Island. She lived in Marblehead, MA for the last fifty years of her life and was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
She is survived by six children, Marcia of Rockport, MA, Richard of Marblehead, MA, Gregory of Lewiston, ME, Barbara of Waldoboro, ME, Deborah of Chicago, IL, Arthur (Kip) of Los Angeles, CA and their spouses and nine grandchildren, Megan, Olan, Graham, Isaac, Ethan, Lucien, Aidan, Hugh and Damir, and four great grand children, Sally, Louisa, Walter and Penny.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday October 4 at 10:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem. A funeral service will follow at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 80 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead, MA, Saturday, October 4 at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday, October 3 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI.
