Alexander J. Sampson, age 79, husband of the late Sandra (Beck) Sampson, of Peabody died Thursday evening November 13, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House Danvers surrounded by his family.

Born in Haverhill the son of the late James and Jennie (Vlasopulus) Sampson, he was raised and educated in Haverhill schools. Following his graduation from High School, he became employed by Stein and Sulkis Co in Haverhill until proudly serving in the United States Army.

Following his discharge Mr. Sampson became trained as a licensed respiratory therapist for Lynn Hospital for over 15 years. He was later employed by the General Electric Co in Lynn until retiring in the early 1990's.

A 32nd degree Mason of the Bethlehem Lodge in Lynn, Mr. Sampson was a longtime member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Salem.
An outgoing and engaging person, he was a renowned drummer and had played many Middle Eastern Bands over the years. Interested in his heritage, Mr. Sampson enjoyed traveling to Europe and in particular enjoyed his visits to France, Italy and Greece. Later in life enjoyed ceramics, art and participating in all the activities as well as socializing with his fellow residents at Sunrise in Peabody where he earned the title of "The Mayor".
He is survived by a brother Evangelos "Sam" Sampson and his wife Jennie of Peabody; a sister Jennie Haseltine of Manchester, NH; a sister in law Barbara Sampson of Haverhill; his beloved sister in law and caretaker, Patricia Rocci and her husband Bruce Robinson of Peabody and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Charles Sampson and two sisters Helen Korizis and Despina Masterakis.

His funeral will be held on at A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North ST) Salem to be followed by funeral services at 11:00 A..M. in St. Peter's Church, 24 St. Peter St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Monday from 2:00P.M. to 4:00P.M and 7:00P.M. to 9:00P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. At the family's request, please omit flowers. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Peters Episcopal Church , 24 St. Peter St, Salem, MA 01970.
