Albert "Albie" Marrs, 81, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2016 at the Kaplan House after a brief and sudden illness. Albie was born in Salem, MA on September 6, 1934 to John and Gertrude Marrs. He was a father, brother, grandfather, uncle, friend and army veteran. He will be missed for his wit, charm, and friendly nature. A Salem native, he graduated from Salem High in 1952, and went on to pursue a BA degree from Boston University. He was an avid reader, and could frequently be spotted at local art galleries or exploring the sites of Salem. Albie was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, and made new friends everywhere he went. He is survived by his son Jeffery and his wife Nancy Marrs of Amesbury, MA, daughter Elayne (Marrs) Bernbaum and her husband Rick of Saugus, MA, daughter Cheryl (Marrs) Catoggio and her husband Paul of Shrewsbury, MA, his granddaughter Kristin (Marrs) Tierney and her husband Kevin of Danvers, MA, grandson Matthew Marrs of Portsmouth, NH and his sister Joan (Marrs) Mason of Lynn, MA and his brother Richard Marrs and his wife Diane of Marblehead, MA. He is predeceased by his lifelong partner and best friend, Lorraine Washburne, of Danvers, MA and his eldest brother Edward Marrs of Salem, MA.

All those who adored Albie are welcomed to celebrate his life. Visiting hours will be held at The Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal Street (corner of North St.) Salem, MA 01970 on Friday, June 17th from 4-8pm. His celebration of life will be held at 9:15AM from the Murphy Funeral Home and will be followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem, MA 01970 at 10AM.
