Albert Irving Knowlton, 95 passed away peacefully at the New Hampshire Veteran's Home in Tilton, NH on May 14, 2016. The son of the late Chester Knowlton and Harriet (Doliber) Knowlton, Albert was born in Monroe, ME. His family moved to Marblehead, MA where Albert graduated high school. He attended the GE Apprenticeship program and learned the skills necessary to enter the US Army as a Sergeant. He served honorably during WWII as a member of the 817th Aviation Battalion. After an honorable discharge Albert returned to GE where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer. He married his wife Thelma Janet Smith in 1946 and started their family together. Albert enjoyed model planes, diving, swimming and traveling. Upon retirement, Albert and Thelma moved to North Conway, NH where they enjoyed nature and making new friends. They were married for 66 years.
Albert is survived by his daughter Janet Morse of Marblehead, MA; his daughter June Knox and her husband Edward of Strafford, NH; his grandson Firefighter DJ Morse and his wife Amy of Brookline, MA; his grandson Benjamin Morse and his wife Ruby of Hawaii; and his great grandchildren Chad, Naia, Ali and Emily. He is predeceased by his loving wife Thelma who passed in 2011 and his son-in-law David Morse who passed away in 2015.
A memorial service will take place at The Dr. Arland A. Dirlam Chapel at Waterside Cemetery 294 West Shore Drive Marblehead, MA on Wednesday May 25, 2016 at 11AM, followed by internment at Waterside Cemetery.
