Aase (Skar) Bratland, age 81, wife of Per Bratland, died peacefully at home Saturday morning. On May 14, she and her husband celebrated 51 years of marriage. She was born, raised and educated in Bergen, Norway, and the daughter of the late Birger and Herborg (Aase) Skar. After settling in the United States, Mrs. Bratland worked as a home care provider and more recently as a partner in Delphin's Gourmandise, of Marblehead.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bratland is survived by two children, Tone and her husband Delphin Gomes of Marblehead and Stein and his wife Carla Bratland of Georgetown; four grandchildren Yannick and Fiona Gomes and Brigit and Erik Bratland, and brother Bjorn Skar and wife, Wenke, of Bergen, Norway.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be before the service on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. and a gathering will follow the 11:00 service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions in her name to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 102 Endicott St., Danvers, MA 01923.
